Preparing for the Worst with Survival Kits

There is a huge segment of the population that takes preparing for disasters very seriously. Some people call them preppers and they’ve been getting a lot of attention from the media. Many of the preppers prepare for different worst case scenarios. One prepper might prepare for a plague while another might prepare for a financial collapse.

With all the exposure to the prepper lifestyle, people have become a little more aware of all of the bad things than could happen and change life as we know it. And zombie shows and movies are extremely popular right now and they make people think about what they would do in a situation where society has completely collapsed. So, people are really getting interest in surviving many different situations and building kits to help them do it. If you are reading this because you are one of those people, continue reading.

You Will Need at Least Two Kits

On Tools: My Rationale Explained

The first thing you should do is stock your home up with everything you’ll need if you should be hunkered down in there for a while. But you might have to leave your house in an emergency situation. If you live in an urban setting, it is more likely that you need to jump ship. Not many people will be prepared like you are and they’ll take from others in order to survive. Your home could be targeted by bad people.

So in addition to the stockpile you have at home, you need to create a survival kit you can take with you if you have to leave in a hurry or ‘bug out’ as survivalists call it. And if possible, you should hide kits or at least some supplies around your local area. You might lose your first kit to thieves or just bad circumstances.

What Should Be Inside Your Kit

What you put in your survival kit is completely your decision. You know what you need more than anybody, after all. But generally speaking the first thing you’ll need to do is pack water purifiers. Many people pack water and that’s not a good idea. It takes up too much room. In most areas, it won’t be hard to find water although it will be extremely hard to find clean water.

The next thing that should go in your bag is knives. They are probably going to be the most versatile item in your bag. Knives are tools to help you prepare game, build things, protect yourself and hunt. Another versatile item to put in your bag is duct tape.
